What Customers Say About Sling Media Slingbox PRO-HD SB300-100:

And said that maybe the hotel had a slow signal. I have used other programs from my home PC to access files while away, and the upload and download is very quick. They figured out the problem in thirty minutes. They basically blamed my connection for the bad signal and streaming issues. And still could not get it to broadcast onto my computer that was hooked up to the router via a wire, the same as the slingbox. So once I got that straightened out, I then tested my laptop and it worked ok. I then gave up and called the company of my router, two days later, which is Linksys. So I figured maybe I could put up with it if I had to.

Funny,. So I purchased this Slingbox HD and hooked it up per its directions, and then spent the next three days trying to get it to work :(. Well a week later I take a trip and go to access my box in the room and low and behold the picture quality was even worse than at home (like a low quality youtube video). Well I tried to call Brighthouse, and they were even less help. And this person I got on the phone was a real A-hole.

I know I don't have a T1 connection and most places I go to don't either. Thirty minutes. After the first six hours going through the install program and not getting it to work, I decided to call the company of the product. Finally he said I had to call the company of the modem and talk to them, since he seemed to think there was a problem with the modem. So a week later I get home and called up you know who again. We tried everything that I was doing and a few other ideas.

I tried calling Slingbox from the hotel, and they wouldn't help me till I got back at home where the box was. I read reviews online and saw how people were able to view their home entertainment from anywhere. Other than a bad product that was poorly conceived. Even for 100 Meg files.

Why, I dunno. It seemed the guy at Slingbox inputted the wrong info in my router and modem, and that was why it wasn't broadcasting. By the time it got streamed enough to make it watchable, I just didn't care anymore and wanted to just wait till I got home to watch. Had to keep sending a signal to the box to research what was available on my cable box. I spent almost six hours on the phone with everyone else, and Linksys knew what the problem was in thirty freaking minutes. Well the guy I first got was pretty helpful, but not very knowledgeable. My experience with the box at that point was terrible to say the least.

I thought this would be great for me to watch what I have at home, instead of the crappy cable that hotels provide. WTF. but annoying. And the hotels are about as fast. But I feel I have a decent connection, around 7megbits per sec.

And since I do a lot of traveling, for myself and for my company. And that I should call my cable company and purchase a better signal. What. I recommend that if you have a "normal" connection, stay away from this product till they fix this issue. I had to wait almost 30 minutes to watch a show or anything I had recorded to the cable box.

Thirty minutes. And he even did a remote connection, through another company's program BTW. So I hung up on this idiot and called it a day. Wasn't the greatest picture and sometimes had limited channels. And to make matters worse, the streaming was horrid.

It all just didn't make any sense. So since the damn thing didn't work as advertised and as other people are able to get it to work, I sent the stupid thing back.

I've had an open case for a faulty IR port on my Sling Media product for the ENTIRE 18 months that I've owned it and they refuse to replace my product. Buyer Beware. Sling Media has by far the worst customer support I've ever encountered from a technology company. They gave me the run around from an incompetent foreign based support staff, over and over again, and never follow up with a resolve. All I wanted was a replacement. If you buy a Sling product and have a problem you have been warned.

I know some people have had problems installing or using it but I have learned since I have had these issues in the past that you need to update the software and if you still have issues their online assistance is the best and will resolve any issue you have quickly. I have had Slingboxes since they came out. This new one has all the bells and whistles you could ask for. They are fast at getting back to you as well. I am extremely happy with this unit.

Also works well on iPhone while not at home (You have to be on a wi-fi network though). I use this: 4 TVs including the one the Slingbox is connected to, 4 SlingLinks (3 plugged into Sling Catchers and 1 plugged into my home router), and 3 Sling Catchers (plugged into other tvs). My Internet connection is 2Mbs each way so it might make a difference with slower upload speeds. Works great in all of the rooms of house. The quality would be better if I had run Cat5 to each catcher and the Slingbox, but the SlingLinks get the job done. Also works well on laptops in the house as well both Mac and PC. The reason I give it a 4 out of 5 is I think the quality could be better, but like I said I probably should use Cat5 vs the SlingLinks.

As an Ipod Touch User:The older version worked, but a little more difficult to get great streaming video. The newer version connects much easier than the old andprovides a sharper Video image than the older model. Is the change necessary. Maybe not, but if you try to achieve the bestresults, you will love the newest model. I think it would be a great feature for the future if they had multiple HDMI connectors rather than just 1 component video (3 Wire), 1 S connector, and one RCA plug in sets.
